Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions for All Sewing Projects


All sewing projects, drop off’s and collections by appointment only. Please call to arrange a convenient
time or contact me via the online email system and an appointment can be created for you. A collection
and delivery service is available at a small cost.


Appointments do require a 48 hour cancellation. A 24hr cancellation is acceptable if unforeseen
circumstances but this will not guarantee a second booking in the same week. Any appointments
missed or cancelled will need to be rebooked via the email system online and an appointment time
given to you. Please note that time is precious and in busy periods a missed appointment can cause
delay in production and in getting your item cared for.


Alterations and Repairs to Clothing and Textiles


All projects will be undertaken at the customer’s request. Measurements will be confirmed between us
at time of appointment and costs will be given. After completion any further alterations will be charged
accordingly. If necessary measurements can be undertaken at your premises for larger items i.e
furniture or soft furnishing measurements. I work from home so no large items can be left waiting for
recovers or repairs. Repairs to items can be identified and costed at time of appointment. Please bear in mind not all
damaged goods can be repaired but I will do my best to save your item.


The turnaround for garment alterations and repairs is usually 1 week. This will depend on any other
items needed to be ordered for the alteration or repair, i.e. zip replacements. Discussed at time of
appointment.


I do not take deposits for carrying out any work, but I do ask that payment for fabrics or materials are
paid for in advance. Final payment for work carried out on collection of goods within 2 weeks of
completion. Late collections will incur a 5% fee and any items not collected within 6 months will be
taken to the charity shop.


Please note that as there are numerous items of clothing and soft furnishings it is impossible to provide
an exact costing over the phone. Most alterations and repairs start from £15 and final cost will be
decided at appointment based on previous projects that have been undertaken. There is the
opportunity to bulk project items working on an hourly rate of £20hr.


I do not supply fabrics or trimmings and will order replacement zips at appointment. I do however store
neutral zipping and piping on a roll for cushions covers or seat making. This will be included in the price
depending on size of item made.


My business is mainly textiles with garment alteration and repairs, I do not do dress making nor do I
make or alter wedding dresses. I simply do not have the space. Alterations to prom dresses or evening
dresses are according to fabric type. If I cannot provide the service for you I can give you details of
another dressmaker who will be able to help. Curtain making and alterations can be undertaken up to a
drop of 90inches. Please bear in mind I do not have a blind stitch machine and therefor can only do
stitch though or hand stitched hems. Again I can provide you will contact details for other curtain
makers if I cannot provide the service you require.


Design and Manufacturing Items

If you have an idea which you would like to create for resale or just to have help in creating a pattern
then I am happy to provide a service for you. I can assist in making a pattern for your item and if you
require large quantities making then we can discuss manufacturing costs. I have made numerous items
for other companies i.e. washbags, storage pots, pencil cases, purses, cushion covers, facemasks, tote
bags, pillowcases and even beekeepers outfits. Prices can be per item or on an hourly rate which we can
discuss at appointment. I do not work to contracts and therefore if the supply is minimal or limitless I am
happy to provide what is needed within a time given scale agreed between us.

Transformations and Recycled Projects


Every item has a shelf life for its initial design purpose but this doesn’t mean it has to be discarded when
its out of fashion or no longer fits the decor surrounding. If you have an item you wish to keep but want
it transformed into something else then let me take a look and see what it can be recycled into. A
favorite dress can become a beautiful bag or a treasured family garment into a keepsake cushion. I am
all for saving this planet of textile waste and can create anything out of something that could potentially
end up in landfill. Just make an appointment with me and we can discuss a future life for your precious
fabric.


Textiles and Home Decor


Most textile soft furnishings I can undertake, i.e. cushions, bedding, curtains and chair covers. I do not
do upholstery but will recover using a staple gun if needed. A collection service can be provided if you
have difficulty transporting your items to me but please bear in mind that I work from home and
therefore cannot store very large items. I can always come to your premises and remove items for
measurements or repair.


If you require assistance in changing the look of your existing room but don’t know where to start I can
provide you with some inspiration. Having a complete makeover doesn’t have to cost the earth and a
simple colour scheme change or a few scatter cushions can really make a home. If you would like a free
initial consultation to discuss budget and a few ideas then please make an appointment with me. For a
small fee I can come up with some ideas of colours and fabrics and go from there.
